The Price We Pay to Look Younger
The anti aging industry is booming. You don’t have to look very far to realize that there are hundreds of new skin care and beauty products coming out each year. Heck the industry has created it’s own term for it calling them cosmeceuticals (a mix between pharmaceutical and cosmetic products).
With the aging population and an entire generation of women who want to stay looking the same for as long as they possibly can big companies are cashing in on selling anti wrinkle cream and other skin care products.
One of the most interesting things about this trend is that price doesn’t seem to matter a lot. Men and women are more concerned with the outcome and results they can achieve along with how quickly then can achieve them rather then spending time penny pinching and doing hours and hours of research.
I’ve seen some of the best anti wrinkle cream sell for one hundred even two hundred dollars a tube both online and in high end department stores. Now in defense of the skin care companies they are spending big bucks not only on marketing, which they are, but also on research and development. You see to ensure that women and men are getting the results they desire labs are constantly pushing the envelope to try and create new ground breaking ingredients that will produce better results then ever before. Also if you contrast the cost of some of these anti aging creams with getting collagen or Botox® injections every few months it’s less expensive and less painful.
I guess this is just another one of the ever changing trends that we must deal with in todays ever developing consumeristic economy.
